Old Age... ಮುದಿತನ

Old Age... Every Human's life passes through different stages - we name them as Infancy, Childhood, Adolescense, Adulthood, Middle Age and at the end- Old Age. The Old age is such a stage when a human loses all his strength, becomes weaker, loses all his enthusiasm in activities, loses his ability to take things lightly, becomes more like an unmatured kid. He/ She needs to be taken care of by someone like how a kid is taken care of. But many times we see that old people are not taken care of like how they should be.

It may be due to personal pressures or due to busy schedule of people they tend to forget the old people that they are old and needs to be taken care of. So they try and find outsourcing measure to take care of them, i.e. OLD AGE HOMES. Most of the well set up family leave their Old aged Family members in Old Age Homes to be taken care of. In my visit to such an Old Age Home when i spoke to different Old People, the same thoughts were flowing out of each and every Old person living there.. Those words took the form of the following lines in my hands..

ಮುದಿತನ...

ಜೀವನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಕೊನೆಯ ಅನುಭವಗಳೇ ಮುದಿತನ. ಮುದಿತನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಜೀವಿತಾವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕರ್ಮಗಳ ನೆನಪುಗಳು ಬಂದು ಎಂಥ ವೇದನೆಯಗುವುದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಈ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಮುದಿತನಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಿರಿಯ ತಳಿಗಳ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ:

ಜೀವನ ದಟ್ಟ ಕಾನನ ಸೇರಿದೆ

ಹೊರಬರಲು ಅವಕಾಶವಿಲ್ಲ

ಹೊರಬರುವ ಸಮಯ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ..

ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡ ಈ ಮುಳ್ಳ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ

ಬಂಧನದಿ ನರಳಾಡಿದೆ

ಬೀಸಿದ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಗೆ ಅದು

ಅಲುಗಾಡುತ ದಾರಿ ತಪ್ಪಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರಶಾಂತವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಡಲು ಇಂದು

ಭೋರ್ಗರೆಯುತ ಅಪ್ಪಳಿಸುತಿದೆ

ಶಾಂತಿಪ್ರಿಯ ಕಾನನದಿ ಇಂದು

ಅಗ್ನಿಜ್ವಾಲೆಯು ಹರಡುತಿದೆ.

ಸ್ವ-ಇಚ್ಚೆಯಿಂ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಬದುಕಲಿ

ಕರಾಳ ಛಾಯೆಯು ಮುಸುಕುತಿದೆ

ಮಮತೆಯಿಂ ಪೂರೆದಿದ್ದರು ಈ ದಿನದಲಿ

ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪ್ರೇಮವು ಸವೆಯುತಿದೆ.

ಭಾಸ್ಕರನ ರಶ್ಮಿಗೆ ನಲಿದಿದ್ದರು

ಮುಸ್ಸಂಜೆಯ ನಿರಸವಿಂದು ಕಾಡುತಿದೆ

ಜೀವನ, ಸುಖದಿ ತೇಲಾಡಿದ್ದರು

ಈ ದಿನ ಅಶ್ರು ಸುರಿಸುತಿದೆ.
